PBI is the highest level of engineering plastics today: super high temperature resistance (high temperature long-term working temperature of 310℃, instantaneous tolerance temperature up to 760℃, thermal deformation temperature of 425℃), high wear resistance, high strength, high rigidity, very low linear expansion coefficient, excellent resistance to high-energy radiation, low flammability, and low exhaust.
PBI is often used to manufacture extremely demanding components to reduce maintenance costs and to provide the longest service life. The applications established include semiconductor and aerospace industries, high temperature contactors for incandescent or fluorescent lamps, such as vacuum cups, pushers and cages, electrical contactors, etc. The disadvantage is that the ability to withstand high temperature steam is insufficient, and the performance is reduced after absorbing water.
